Description

A pleasant walk in Florence is just what you need to be introduced to the city and its splendor and secular heritage!

Explore the city center with our Florence walking tour: discover the magnificence of one of the most fascinating cities in the world, and its centuries-old heritage, with an enjoyable relaxed promenade in the footsteps of the Medici dynasty, that ruled the city in the 14th and 15th centuries.

Your experienced, professional guide will give an entertaining presentation about the city during the walking tour of Florence: beginning with the fact that the city has been inhabited since prehistoric times, then became one of the most important centers of Etruscan culture, and later, a Roman city with the name "Florentia.” During the Middle Ages the city endured a long series of wars, but this was also the period when the city became famous and wealthy thanks to textile manufacturing and trade and the new and ambitious architectural projects.

Finally, under the astute leadership of the Medici family Florence enjoyed a period of peace and prosperity, which led it to be renowned as “the cradle of the Renaissance”. At that time rich bankers and merchants invested in fine palaces to replace their cramped tower houses, and paid for the adornment of churches.

The result was what you admire today: a stupendous outpouring of mesmerizing art masterpieces and stunning architecture. UNESCO World Heritage Site, enchanting, romantic and sumptuously enhanced by centuries-old architecture and artwork, Florence is a treasure chest of marvels, all there for you to discover for yourself.

Follow your guide and admire Piazza della Signoria, dominated by the striking Palazzo Vecchio, Florence's Cathedral - the Duomo - with the adjacent bell tower (the Tower of Giotto) and the Baptistery with its famous, magnificent gold paneled "Gates of Paradise". The visit continues on to Orsanmichele and the Santa Trinità Church.

After walking briefly along the river, you will arrive at the Ponte Vecchio, the world's most celebrated bridge. Once across the bridge you are in the Oltrarno neighbourhood, renowned for its picturesque atmosphere, artisan workshops and antique shops.
And for a full overview of Florence's most authentic flavor, enjoy a relaxing, and delicious, break during this Florence Italy walking tour tasting the best typical products.
